Noh

My most recent work! Finally done! Took me about 30 hours to finish this pretty penny... (I know, that seems like far too much time!!!)

What we have here is a traditional Japanese Noh mask.
This is the "Onryo"mask. I tried to be as accurate as possible wile working on this piece.

The "Onryo" Noh mask represent the revengeful ghost as it appeared from Hell. All revengeful ghost masks are revered with the spirit of God in accordance with the belief that when a person dies, the soul becomes God.

I originally wanted to do red Japanese chrysanthemums as the flowers framing the mask, because of some of the symbolism they hold.... But I just couldn't! I apparently need to practice flower drawing more. OTL

Anyway... I really hope you all enjoy this one. I really put my heart into it and I am pretty proud of it.... Even though the photo quality is so bad OTL... Sorry about that... I hope you like it all the same and I would really appreciate any comments. Thank you.

((As a side note that Japanese Hiragana you see written there is the name "Sachi" which is a variation on a nickname some of my friends have given me "Stachi" which is a variation of my real name, "Staci". Sachi is a Japanese name meaning "Child of Joy". Though, Hiragana conveys no meaning, just pronunciation.))
